Adar is a significant character in The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, first appearing in the episode "Udûn." Set in Middle-earth's Second Age, Adar is an Uruk leader who commands a host of Orcs in the Southlands.
His origins are shrouded in mystery, but it is revealed he is one of the first Elves corrupted by Morgoth, becoming one of the Moriondor, or "Sons of the Dark." This experience set him apart from other Orcs, fostering a sense of responsibility for their well-being, though his methods are often cruel and violent.
Adar orchestrates the creation of Mordor, manipulating the land to unleash the volcanic power of Orodruin (Mount Doom).
